Minimally Invasive Hair Transplant Procedure for Men and Women
NeoGraft™ is the most advanced and least invasive FDA-approved solution for permanent hair restoration for both men and women. Using NeoGraft™ , Dr. McMullen and his team deliver exceptional results without the telltale “ear to ear” linear scar that results from other hair transplant procedures.
The older “strip method” hair transplant procedure requires removal of a sizeable section of the scalp from the back of the head and manual dissection under a microscope before re-implantation of individual follicular units. In contrast, the NeoGraft™ procedure uses an automated, minimally invasive Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) technique to painlessly remove individual follicular grafts directly from the donor area at the back of the head. The procedure requires only a minimal amount of local anesthetic, and the small graft retrieval sites at the donor area typically heal in 24 to 48 hours.
The grafts are then inserted into areas where the patient desires more hair to create a natural looking hair line and/or add density to areas of thinning using a “no-touch” implantation handpiece or careful manual technique to minimize trauma or damage to the follicles.
NeoGraft™ is a significantly less invasive and safer procedure than the old “strip” methods. It is virtually pain-free, and the patient can return to work the next day. Patients can wear their hair short without any visible signs that they have had any procedure done.
In some cases, NeoGraft™ also allows us to harvest hair from areas of the body that would be unsuitable for the traditional method resulting in the possibility of increased density. With NeoGraft™ , most patients are candidates for a hair transplant.
Eyebrows can be missing or thinning for a number of reasons—over-plucking, alopecia, scars caused by facial injury or burning, stress, or age.
Single-hair grafts allow us to create eyebrows or make them denser. The results are dramatic and undetectable, and surgical scars from facelifts and brow lifts can also be corrected in the same manner.
Hair is extracted from the back or the side of the scalp using the minimally invasive NeoGraft™ technique. It is then inserted into thinning areas in the eyebrows using a technique similar to that used in regular hair implantation. Recipient sites are much closer together, and precision placement of the grafts is required. No scalpels are needed and no stitches are required. Patients regain their natural growing eyebrows with no side effects.
Scars on the head or eyebrows can result from automobile accidents, sports injuries, birth marks, burn injuries, chemical burns, and a number of inflammatory and or skin diseases. Scars from cosmetic surgeries and neurosurgeries can also cause destruction of hair follicles in the affected areas, which are often bald after healing.
Some scars are small and easy to hide, while others may need repair. It requires careful examination of the scalp and consideration of numerous factors to develop a plan to decide on the feasibility and best expectations of surgical hair restoration.
